Deon Lang Obituary

On October 16, 2018, God called Deon “Doc” Lang to his heavenly home. He, the only son, was born July 12, 1953 to Odell L. Overton in Indianapolis, Indiana. Deon confessed his belief in Christ Jesus at an early age while attending Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN. As an adult, he attended Tabernacle Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN.

While growing up, his education began in Indianapolis Public Schools from where he graduated Crispus Attucks High School, class 1971. He was a member of the marching band. After graduation, he furthered his education at Knoxville College.

“Doc” worked as a Car Salesman for many years in Knox County and surrounding counties for over 30 years. He loved to travel seeing new things and meeting new people. He loved being in the company of family and friends. That big smile was always a clear indication of his “happy life.”

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Felix Edward Lang, Sr. and Mary Lou Lang; uncle, Felix, Jr.

Survived by daughters, Rebecca (Charles) Nichols and Cora Blair; grandchildren, Christian Graham, Lillian “Lilly” Lang and Olivia Hembree, all of Maryville, TN; great grandchildren, Bentley and Lilah Kircher, both of Maryville, TN; mother, Odell L. Overton; sisters, Francesca L. Overton, Mary E. (Stanley) Ferguson and Selena Overton-Herring, all of Indianapolis, IN; special brother, Verne A. (Fatima) Overton of San Bruno, CA; aunt, Marva Sue Murphy; nephews, Pleas (Kendra) Ferguson of Los Angeles, CA, Zachary (Brittney) Ferguson of Indianapolis, IN and Nicholas (Aisha) Herrin of Indianapolis, IN; great niece, Tierra R. Ferguson; great nephews, Edward Ferguson and Tristan Herring; a host of other family and friends to include his Tabernacle Church family.
