DeWayne Arlandas Comer, born June 8, 1966 to the late Sergeant Isaac and Mary Griffin Comer, departed this life on June 12, 2018 at his home. DeWayne graduated West High School, Class of 1985 where he was an accomplished athlete and scholar. He was employed at Schneider National Carriers for many years until his early retirement.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mattie Griffin; great grandmother, Pearl Arnold and uncles, George and Edward Griffin.
Survived by loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Billie Pearl Comer; brother, Darwin (Teresa) Comer; sisters, Darlandra (Alfred, Sr.) Hardin and Rosland Robinson; granddaughter, Jackie Hardin; nieces, Kim Mays, Alaysia and Arissa Hardin; nephew, Alfred Hardin, Jr.; uncle, Ernest (Linda) Comer; special aunt, Pat Netherland; aunt, Marion Rucker of Atlanta, GA; a host of other family and friends too numerous to name.
Thursday, June 21, 2018, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with service to follow at True Light M.B. Church at 3229 George Light Road, Knoxville, TN 37931. Elder Darris W. Waters officiating. Interment will immediately follow at New Gray Cemetery where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.
