Diane Bass Obituary

Diane H. Smith-Bass was born February 23, 1953 in Cleveland, Tenn. to the late Irene Smith and Marshall Bowerman.  

She is preceded in death by her parents; her aunts, Arlena Smith, Evelyn Neal, and Margaret Dunn; and her brother, Gale Smith.

Diane was a member of the Church of God Sanctified.  She was a graduate of College Hill School class 1971 and retired from Maytag Corporation in 2001.   

Diane's loved listening to soul music and talking late night with her friends on the phone.  Her favorite color was purple, and her favorite pastime was spent watching gospel television. She had an amazing memory and was quick to recollect most any information from her past.  Spending time with her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Octavia (David Jr.) Ware; her son, James Wooden; brothers, Lewis Smith, Stephen (Susa) Smith, and Freddie (Lynn) Smith;  grandchildren, James Wooden, Jamika Wooden, Tyriece Wells, Arianna Wooden, Jasaun Wooden, DaJour Ware, Nyia Ware; great grand niece, Patricia Pugh Cook; special cousins, Andrea Smith and Byron Dunn children, Laken Willis, and JaMyrah Wooden;  her closest friends, Cheryl Slaughter, Latisha Cates, Sandra Bass, Sharon Piersaul, Georgia Mae Nalory; many other relatives and friends.

Body may be viewed Saturday, November 17 at the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair Street from 12:00 noon until 6:00p.m.  Family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, at the Church of God Sanctified, 746 1st Street, Cleveland, Tn. 37311 from 2:30p.m., service will begin at 3:00p.m.  Pastor Rodney Dunn will Officiant and Bishop Dr. Guilford R. Hill will be the Eulogist.  Interment to follow at the Fort Hill Cemetery.  Patton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith-Bass family.  www.pattonfuneralhome1962.com
