Dorothy Hughley-Taylor, born October 23, 1936 departed this life May 26, 2018 at her residence.
Preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Rose Ballard- Hughley; brothers, June and John; sisters, Mary and Betty Hughley and nieces, Shree and Brenda.
Dorothy, affectionately known as Dot, was a graduate of Austin High School where she was a majorette. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Throughout her career, she worked in various healthcare fields, teaching and providing care for others. Dot certainly fulfilled her calling as a professional health service provider. She also taught at Job Corp helping the youth with life decisions. Dot was a kind person having never met a stranger. She would open her home to others whenever there was a need. Dot loved her family and valued her friends. Holidays were her favorite times. This was when she'd lavish everyone with her fine cooking. We will miss her wisdom, her smiling face, her hugs, and her great cooking but most of all we will miss her laughter.
Left to cherish her memory: two sons: Maurice (Corlisa) and Kevin Arnold; two grandchildren: Felicia and Alaysa; four great grandchildren; devoted niece, Debra (Raymond) Wade and nephew Michael Weaver; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Monday, June 4, 2018, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at Payne Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Richard S. Brown officiating. Flowers may be delivered to the church the day of the service. Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L. Buckmon, LFD 1-800-824-8283 or www.pattonfuneralhome1962.com
