Lem Vernon Jr Obituary

Lem Vernon, Jr., of Clinton, TN, departed this life October 9, 2018.  Born May 4, 1951, he was the only child born to Lem, Sr. and Bertha Jackson in Lynch, Kentucky.  Lem was an outgoing man who was a great basketball player in high school.  Here is where he earned the nickname “Frog.”  He loved fishing, traveling and listening to old school jams.

He accepted Christ at an early age carrying over into adulthood. He was a member and served as an usher at Oak Valley Baptist Church.  A lover of Christ, his wife and family, he always made sure they were cared for and protected.  Date nights on the patio showing off his smoke mastery skills on the grill was always one of his and Linda’s greatest pleasures.  More enjoyable times where spent with his granddaughter.  She would cuddle up with “Papa”, staying up late eating ice cream.

Lem worked for US Steel for 10 years and later employment with several nursing facilities in Anderson County exhibited his caring and nurturing spirit.  He provided exceptional care to all the residents.  He had such an infectious smile and personality to match.  He will be missed by everyone!

Preceded in death by his parents.

Survived by his loving wife, Linda Vernon; stepchildren, Kara Allen and Jeremiah Baker (Heather); granddaughter, Ja’Miyah Baker; brothers-in-law, Van (Karolyn) and Larry (Charisse) Hodge and church friends.

Special thank you to Oak Valley Baptist Church, Tennessee Cancer Center and Jordan Lusk.

Tuesday, October 16, 2018, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m with service to follow at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 194 Hampton Road, Oak Ridge, TN.  Reverend Derrick Hammond officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where a white dove release will conclude the service.  Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.  Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
