Magdalene Henry

Magdalene Chandler Henry, formerly of Knoxville, passed away May 4, 2018 in Hartford, Connecticut. Magdalene graduated from Austin High School in 1959. Shortly after, she received her nursing degree, began working at Fort Sanders Hospital and later moved to Hartford where she retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Predeceased by her son, Gary Henry; parents, Eugene Sr. and Zurada Billingsley Chandler ; infant brother, Eugene, Jr; sisters: Willie Reed, Julia Valentine and Ruth Jones; aunt, Hazel Rogers and sister-in-law, Linda Chandler. 

Survived by her daughter, Lisa (Raymond) Scarlett; sons, Charles "Boot" and Eric Henry; grandchildren: Eric, Savon and Donta; siblings: B. Yvette Atkins, Hazel Chandler, Emma (George) Tate, Jimmy and Henry (Kathy) Chandler and Kenneth (Pat) Teasley; a host of other family and friends.

Saturday, May 12, 2018, the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with service to follow at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914.  Pastor Sam Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery, Browns Mountain, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the day of the service.
