Mary Alice Jefferson was born May 5, 1947 to Jessie Summey and Dorothy Lundy in Knoxville, TN. She gained her heavenly wings on January 31, 2018 at Fort Sanders Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. She was a graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1968. She met and married the love of her life in 1963. One of Mary Alice’s greatest joys was raising her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved spending time with her great- grandchildren “who kept her young at heart.” She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, family gatherings and hanging out with friends.
Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Jefferson; daughter, Pamela Jefferson; parents, Jesse Summey and Dorothy Lundy; uncles: Nathaniel Lundy, Sr., Albert and Ralph Summey; aunts: Lucy Jones and Etha Summey.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Angela (Jimmy) Jefferson; son, Razell (Javonna) Jefferson; grandchildren: LaMar (Dorothy), Jonisha, Deairice, Kamisha, Razonda; great-grandchildren: KJ, Davon, Tayvon, Da Za’ion, Tyzonnie, A’Shadiyah; brother, James Henry (Carolyn) Lundy; nieces: Stacy (Rodney) Callaway, Brittany Lundy (Bobby) of Huntsville, AL; nephews, James Christopher Lundy of Garland, TX and Rodney Lundy of Huntsville, AL; aunts: Dorothy Lundy of North Chicago, IL, Mildred Summey and devoted aunt, Charlestine Thrift of Oak Ridge, TN; cousins: Joyce Hansford, Dorothy Ann (Dennis) Carson, William Summey, Wendell Summey, Janice (James) Woodard, Gloria (Frederick) McGinnis, Kimberlia (Robert) Duhart, Charles Jones, Merneatha (Rayman) Bazilio, Carrie Buckmon, Sheila Jones, Brian L. Thursday, February 8, 2018, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with homegoing service to follow at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church at 520 College Street, Knoxville TN 37921. Reverend Dr. Michel S.E. Caldwell, Pastor and Reverend Eugene R. Carter, Jr., Eulogist. Interment will follow at East TN Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier Highway) where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.
