Robert Calhoun Lane, Jr. was born August 7, 1938 to the late Robert C. and Armanda Landers Lane in West Point, Georgia. "Bobby Lane" passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Island Home Park Health and Rehab. Affectionately known as "Bubba" or "Bobby Lane", he grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended Booker T. Washington High School. As a young man, he enlisted the U.S Army and proudly served. After his honorable discharge, he went on to graduate Knoxville Evening High School and Barber College. Bobby's employment career spanned from TVA to K-25 Oak Ridge to proprietor and operator of B.L Barbershop until his health declined.
He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Kevin V. and Keith R. Lane of Knoxville, TN; daughters, Pamela Timmons of Texas and Angela McAfee of Knoxville, TN; two granddaughters; one grandson; brother, Jack Lane of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Anne Lane Mayfield of Chattanooga, TN and Patricia Lane Cannon of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, Melvinor Atta Acquah of Chattanooga, TN, Lisa Cannon Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Jacqueline Lane Cochran of Chattanooga, TN, Carla Frey of Knoxville, TN and Anita Lane of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Daryl Jerome Lane of Atlanta, Georgia and Sean Lane Mayfield of Chattanooga, TN; devoted compassionate caregiver and advocate, Gloria K. Lane; many cousins, other relatives and friends to include special friends, Reverend Alvin Smith, D. Earl Armstrong , Robert King and Cecil Hines.
Friday, May 31, 2019, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with service to follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1601 Dandridge Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Reverend Jesse Williams officiating. Interment will immediately follow at East TN Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway where military honors and a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.
