Sedalia Scranton Obituary

Sedalia Luther Ellen Scranton was born December 4, 1945 to Thelma Pearl Hines in Knoxville, Tennessee.  She was a devoted and loving  mother  who took care of her family and others as well.  Sedalia worked for Palm Beach Industries and Levis Strauss before having a career in nursing.  She finally retired from K-Trans (presently KAT ).

Not only a doting mother but she was a very talented person.  She loved to draw which some of her illustrations will be handed down to her precious grandchildren whom she adored.  She loved to cook especially for the holidays and fish with her brother-in-law, Curtis Kelso.

In 2010, her health began to decline leading her to begin dialysis.  She was diagnosed with bladder cancer.  Sedalia fought long and hard to maintain as much normalcy as she could.  Ultimately resulting in her deciding to stop the dialysis treatment on February 9, 2018.  It would be days later, she would depart this life and enter her eternal resting place with our Lord and Savior on February 14, 2018.

Preceded in death by her infant son, Ronald Scranton; mother., Thelma Matthews; sister, Shirley Hines; grandparents, Sedalia and Isaac Deadrick; niece, Keyawna Bingham.

Left to cherish her memory: her loving soul mate for over 50 years, Raymond Burton, Sr.; loving children: Ivan Scranton, Rita Burton (Eddie Cannon) and Raymond Burton, Jr.; grandchildren: Ieshia, Rayanna, Briana, Chevonna, LeShaun, Janae, Zayden and Lyric; great grandson, Armani; a host of other family to include the Kelso and Brabson families and many friends.

Monday, February 19, 2018, a Celebration of Life service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church.  Reverend Fredrick E. Brabson, Sr. will officiate.  Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the service.  Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
