Sharon Lynn McCanelly McDuffie, of Oak Ridge, entered eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday April 18, 2019 at Methodist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 12, 1957 at Oak Ridge Memorial Hospital to Robert Clyde McCanelly and Louise Steele Mills.
Sharon graduated Oak Ridge High School in 1975. She worked at the X-10 Plant in Oak Ridge as a Clerical Secretary. She was a member of Spurgeon Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Robert McCanelly; stepfather, Matthew Mills; grandparents, William & Mattie Lee Steele; three aunts, Willie Mae Steele Young, Roena Steele Atkinson, Clara Steele Payne; six uncles, Jerry Steele, Bobby Steele, Hugh Steele, A. C. Mims, Finas Mims, Frederick Mims and several cousins.
She leaves to cherish her memory: loving mother, Louise S. Mills; two sisters, Pamela (Malcolm) Price, Nashville, TN and Susanne (Zeke) McCray, Oak Ridge, TN; three brothers, Charles Irby, SC, Shawn Thomas and Xavier Kirk, Oak Ridge; three nephews, Michael Cooper, Nashville, TN, Kaseem Davidson and Zadrian Kirk, both of Oak Ridge, TN; four aunts, Dorothye Steele Patterson, Yvonne Mims, Mary F. Steele, all of Oak Ridge, TN and Mary Brown, Montgomery, AL; special longtime friend, David Nix; special cousins, Tacita Semele Scott, Connie (Rev. Leon) Baker; special classmates, Julie Holloway, Geneva Booker, Janie Taylor, Vickie Anderson and Diane Bolton; special friends, Dekeesha Hurd, Willie Oliver and Jordana Wright, several cousins and friends too numerous to name.
Special thanks to Ashley Dalton, Nancy Hulley Home Health Nurses and the 5th floor nurses for taking great care of our loved one. Thank you to Dr. Rachel Dalton and nurse Jody, Dr. Richard Bremer, and Dr. Nawsas Babian for their loving care of Sharon.
Saturday April 27, 2019, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. with service to follow at Spurgeon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 100 South Benedict Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN. Reverend Churchill W. Moore, Sr, officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where a white dove release will conclude the service.
