Tonya Janene Strong Mathews of Knoxville, died November 3, 2017 at Parkwest Medical Center after a long battle with chronic illnesses and grief over the loss of her son Trey, in March 2017. She was born May 12, 1970 and graduated from Bearden High School in 1988. She was a former employee of Horne Properties in Knoxville, TN.
Tonya was preceded in death by her son Samuel J. Mitchell lll and both her grandfathers, William Strong Sr. and Robert Stewart.
Tonya is survived by her oldest dedicated son Darius Mathews and his family of Atlanta Georgia, her youngest loving son Shaquille Mitchell and four granddaughters. She leaves forever footprints on the hearts of her parents Stanley and Janell Strong. She will be sorely missed by her sister Stephanie Edmondson and family. Her memories will live forever with her grandmothers Pearlie Strong and Earleen Stewart, other family members and friends.
Thursday, November 9, 2017, the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow at West End Church of Christ, 8301 E. Walker Springs Lane, Knoxville, TN 37923. Minister Jeremy Weekley, officiating and Minister Van Hardin, eulogist. All expressions of love may be delivered to the church the day of the service.
