Walter Jackson

Walter Cartez Jackson, "Skip", went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 23, 2018. Skip was born April 21, 1950 to Walter "Red" Jackson and Bessie Smith. He graduated Austin East High School, Class of 1969, where he excelled in athletics. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Pentagon in Washington DC during the Vietnam era.
Preceded in death by his guardian mother, Dorothy Hodson; parents; and sister, Cecelea F. Williams.
Left to cherish his memory: daughters, Desiree (Corey) Jackson-Kennard, Anjanette and Megan Stone; brother, Robbie Jackson; sisters, Wanda Sue Upton, Jovita (Nokomis) Yeldell and Robin (Don) Howell; a host of other family and friends.
Wednesday, August 1, 2018, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with service to follow at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Minister Jovita Yeldell, Eulogist. Interment will follow at East TN Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier Highway) where military honors and white dove release will conclude the service.
