Arthur Brown Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, in Oak Ridge, TN.

Arthur was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA and attended IC Norcom High School, Portsmouth, VA. Arthur was a family-oriented person! When he moved his family to Tennessee, his parents and a few of his siblings followed. He worked for Y-12 plant for over 35 years. Arthur was a member of local union 718, Pipefitter Union. 

He was a faithful member of Bethel Apostolic Temple Church in Knoxville, TN. He always had a word from God to share with you no matter the place or time.  Arthur loved the Lord and he served as a Deacon in his church. He took pleasure in spreading God’s word to his coworkers, family, and friends. His heart’s desire was to let everyone know the goodness of God!  He was grateful that God used him to aid in adding souls to the kingdom.

He was an avid football fan. Arthur was truly loyal to his Tennessee Volunteers and his Washington Football teams.

Preceded in death by wife, Gloria Brown of Oak Ridge TN; parents, Arthur Brown Sr., and Olivia Brown, of Oak Ridge, TN; brother, Floyd Brown; niece, Rhonda Brown of Portsmouth Virginia, and nephew, Will Brown of Oak Ridge, TN.

Survived by his beautiful wife, Heilga Brown of Oak Ridge TN; children Eric Brown of Charleston, SC, Chelsea Williams (Demetrius) of Portsmouth, VA, Tonita Webb (Brian) of Seattle, WA, James Cobb of Rocky Mount, NC, and Schmett Jones (Anthony) of Clayton, NC.

Through his union with Heilga, he was blessed with three additional wonderful children; Maurice Johnson, Demetrius Johnson, and Geneva Johnson, all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren; Erica Brown, Kinzi Brown, Chantika Brown, Tyre Brown, Eric Brown, Kaiyla Webb, Andrew Webb, Tenecia Jones, Jazmyn Jones, Isaiah Webb, Joshua Webb, Johnathan Cobb, Jeremy Cobb, Deyvn Johnson, Heaven Johnson, Jaden Johnson, Demetrius Johnson Jr., Ayanna Buie, Sariyah Johnson, Daykia Johnson; great-granddaughters, Chanel Brown and Legaci Johnson; sisters, Shirley May Carney and Yvonne Brown; brothers, Tony Brown (Vanessa), Ricky Brown (Terry), Bobby Brown, Gregory Brown of Portsmouth VA, Kenny Brown (Trish) of Oak Ridge TN; in-laws, Sanford Miller (LaToya) of Knoxville, TN, Genine Miller of Knoxville, TN, Belinda Clark (Enoch) of Knoxville, TN, Myra Dragg (Maurice) of Knoxville, TN, Teresa Bailey of Knoxville, TN, Linda Ellis (John) of Suffolk, VA, and Deloris Watson (Craig) of Chicago, IL.  Arthur is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, along with many good friends.

Saturday, October 23, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Children of God Ministries, 309 Deaderick Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. for immediate family and close friends.  Superintendent Phillip Hamilton, Sr. is the pastor and Bishop Kelvin Cash is the eulogist.  Interment at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, 1501 Bethel Valley, Oak Ridge, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the walkthrough.
