Audrey Lee Obituary
Audrey Lee, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and her radiant spirit. Born on January 16, 1941, in Cleveland, TN, Audrey was the cherished only child of the late Doyle Parks and Louise Meredith-Parks.
As a young girl, Audrey moved to Manhattan before relocating to Plainfield, NJ, in her teenage years to live with her aunt, Margaret Scruggs. She graduated from Plainfield High School and furthered her education at Tennessee State University and Hunter College.
Audrey returned to New York, where she worked at Boroughs Bank. It was there she met John Lee Sr., and they married in 1967. They began their family in Harlem, NY, on 148th Street. In 1973, Audrey, John, and their two sons moved to Teaneck, NJ. Audrey embraced her role as a dedicated mother, enjoying day trips and events with her sons while meticulously managing their education, home, and religious activities.
Audrey had a passion for travel, exploring various countries and islands and enjoying numerous cruises. She possessed a remarkable "green thumb," with plants thriving under her tender care. A lifelong and active church member, Audrey found deep fulfillment in her faith. While in New Jersey, she joined First Baptist Church in Englewood. Later, in the 1990s, she was led to Community Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted member for over 30 years, singing in the choir, assisting in the office, and generously donating her time to various church and First Family initiatives.
Known affectionately as "Auntie" to many, Audrey brightened every day with her favorite saying, "Every Day is a Good Day." Her infectious optimism and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Audrey is survived by her two loving sons, John A. Lee II (Kaday) and Duane C. Lee (Kenyatta). She leaves behind three grandchildren, Tayla Richardson (Deven) and Eva Lee, and two great-grandchildren, Ari and Kori Richardson. Audrey also embraced and cherished her bonus children, Reverend Lester Taylor and Gayle Taylor, and bonus grandchildren, Amber, Autumn and Quentin. She is also survived by a host of cousins and dear friends.
