Belinda Pennington Moore, a beacon of light and love, gracefully departed this earthly realm on August 22, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on September 2, 1950, in Montezuma, Georgia, Belinda's life was a symphony of service, joy, and unwavering faith. She was a cherished daughter, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a pillar of her community.

Belinda's journey began as the heart of a family that would grow to admire her strength and compassion. Though she now joins her beloved mother Jesse Phillips, her fathers James Pennington and Charlie Phillips, her brothers Jimmy and Richard Phillips, and her niece Monica Brown in eternal rest, her legacy of love continues to thrive through her family.

On March 1, 1977, Belinda wed William Moore, a union crowned with love and partnership that flourished for 48 beautiful years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and cherished memories. Belinda's nurturing spirit lives on through her daughters, Deandra (Floyd) Clark and Alicia Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee; her son Derrick (Renita) Moore of Peoria, Arizona; and her adored grandchildren, Roy Moore IV, Tajuan Owens, William Moore, and King Clark. Her sisters Sylvia (McArthur) Moore, Beverly, and Debra Pennington, along with her nieces Freda Phillips and Jessica Kearse, and nephews Jamaal Phillips and Krutel Mack, Stephen (Tiffany) Moore, Alex Brown, Nolan Brown, Makenzie Brown, Cheyenne Moore and Xavier Moore, her loving Sister-Cuz Jacqueline Richardson will forever hold Belinda's memory in their hearts.

Belinda's passion for education and personal growth led her to Morris Brown College, where she pursued an educational degree and became a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Her professional life was marked by over three decades of dedicated service as a bank teller with Wells Fargo and ORNL Credit Union, where she touched countless lives with her integrity and kindness.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Belinda's commitment to her church and community was unwavering. She served as the secretary for The 100 Black Women of Knoxville, TN, and played a vital role in the card ministry at West End Church of Christ. Her faith was her guiding star, and she inspired many to walk in love and purpose.

Belinda's interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. She played the clarinet with the same finesse she lived her life—harmoniously and with precision. On the softball field and in the bowling alley in Portland, Oregon, she shared joy and camaraderie with friends. In quieter moments, Belinda found solace in the pages of a good book, enriching her mind and spirit.

As we reflect on Belinda's life, her children are reminded by words she would often say, “Never let anyone make you an afterthought!” 

Let us be inspired by the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
