Brenda Washington Shelton Obituary

Brenda Washington Shelton was born in St. Louis, Missouri August 24, 1953, to Georgia Washington Mosby and Edward Mosby. She crossed over to be with the Lord on June 8, 2023, at age 69 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She built her foundation in Christ and raised her children to do the same. She was a member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church and attended faithfully.  She loved her church family and enjoyed volunteering.

After completing her studies at Vashon High School, she proudly served in the military, starting with the U.S. Army Reserve and later transitioning to the Navy.

During her time in Memphis, she was employed by the Tennessee Department of Human Services (Food Stamp Program), International Harvesters, and Memphis Light Gas and Water before moving to Oak Ridge, TN in 1986. For the next 27 years, she worked at UT-Battelle, ultimately retiring in 2013. Beginning her career in janitorial services, she worked her way up to Senior Health Physics Technician, a testament to her unwavering determination, focus on self-improvement, and commitment to providing a better life for her family and herself.

Brenda cherished the time she spent with her loved ones. She found joy in cooking and grilling, and generously shared food with family, friends, neighbors, church members, and those in need. Her heart was full of kindness, and she had a great sense of humor. Brenda was always there to comfort others and welcomed many into her circle of prayer. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially on cruises. Recently, she took up woodworking and built tables, dog houses, and other things. Brenda also sewed clothes for her children and loved fishing with them when they were younger. Additionally, she was skilled at roller skating and enjoyed it thoroughly.
