Charles Chandler, Sr. Obituary

Charles G. Chandler, Sr. was born to William Clyde and Willie Mae R. Chandler Knoxville, TN April 19, 1956.

He attended Austin East High School and after graduating in 1975, enlisted in US Army where he served with honor. Upon completing his tenure in the military, he served as grounds keeper for the VA in Johnson City, TN.

Jovial in nature, Charles loved to joke around and have a good time. He was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. Oooh, but he was soooo messy! He enjoyed attending church at New Friendship Baptist Church, traveling and spending time with his family. He loved his family and would do anything for them. He was proud of his family and was quick to let you know that he was Charles Chandler SENIOR!
Charles, Sr. was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We will miss you dearly!

Preceded in death by loving wife, Harriet Johnson-Chandler and father, William Clyde Chandler.
He leaves to celebrate a life lived well: mother, Willie Mae R. Chandler Kyle; children, Darryl (Valerie) Stewart, Charles Jr. and Mercedes Chandler; stepchildren, Almon Wells, Brooks Johnson and Chasadie Johnson; 13 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; siblings, William Herman Chandler, Jacqueline Chandler (Marvin), Julia Stapleton, Timothy (Ronni) Chandler, John (Kim) Chandler and the Johnson family; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and lifelong friends, Jerry “Muscles” Craigmire and James “Mickey” Martin.
