Charles Lee “Nip” Hawkins, 81, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025.

Born on March 13, 1944, in Loudon, Nip was a lifelong resident of the community he deeply loved. He dedicated over 33 years of service to the Y-12 National Security Complex, where he was admired for his strong work ethic, reliability, and humble spirit.

Known by many as “Nip,” he lived a life marked by kindness, quiet leadership, and unwavering devotion to those around him. He coached Little League softball, mentoring countless young athletes with patience and encouragement. A faithful servant in his church, Nip served as both a sound technician and trustee—roles he carried out with humility and care.

A loyal Alabama football fan, Nip never missed a chance to cheer on the Crimson Tide. But his greatest joy in life was his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 53 years, Donna Hawkins; his children, Rodney Hawkins and Latoia Hawkins Dallas; and his cherished grandchildren: Jalen Hawkins, Austin Jack, Kayla Dowdy-Smith, Jordan Harden, Paycee Oody, Jozlyn Hawkins, Emmanuel Lawrence, Nicholas Hardison Jr., Le’land Hawkins, Mi’Leah Hawkins and, Chandler Smith, Serenity Hawkins and Kaleah Chatman; sister in law Pear Hawkins; devoted brother and sister in law Charles and Ruth Lawrence.

Nip is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Dinesha Hawkins; his brothers and sisters: Carl Hawkins Jr., William Douglas Hawkins, Alma Ruth Griffin, Barbara Green, Landon Hawkins, Theda Rhea “Lutie,” and Henry Hawkins; and his lifelong best friend, Lonnie Jones.

Charles “Nip” Hawkins will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, coach, friend, and man of faith. His legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength—a life that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
