Charlotte Brabson Obituary

Celebrating the Life and Homegoing of
Charlotte E. Brabson

Charlotte E. Brabson, a beautiful soul inside and out, was born on May 30, 1942, in Buford, Georgia, to the late Mae Omie Nuckles and Columbus English. On December 21, 2025, she received her eternal reward, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Her homegoing marks not an end, but a joyful transition into glory—one celebrated with gratitude for a life well lived and faith well kept.

Charlotte was a faithful member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served diligently in numerous capacities. Her unwavering commitment to God and His people was recently recognized and honored by the Titus 2 Women’s Ministry, her flowers given while she yet remained. A proud graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1960, Charlotte carried the values of discipline, perseverance, and service throughout her life.

After retiring from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Charlotte embraced a new calling. In 2008, alongside her youngest daughter, Dione Rodgers, she founded Home Support Services—turning vision into purpose. As a single Black woman entrepreneur for over 17 years, she remained steadfast in her faith, often declaring with confidence and conviction, “This is God’s business.” Her resilience, leadership, and belief in God’s provision continue to inspire all who knew her.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved uncle and aunt, Deacon William and Deaconess Rilla Elrod; her cherished grandson, Diondus Billings; and her son-in-law, James Styles Jr.

She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, strength, and precious memories to be treasured by her devoted daughters: Crystal Styles, Tonya (Tyrone) Patterson, of Knoxville, TN and Dione Rodgers (TaMuriele Stapleton), of Clarksville, Tennessee. Her joy multiplied through her grandchildren: Darryl Bell Jr. (Amie Brown) of South Carolina, Akivia Ware, Alexus Patterson, of Knoxville, TN, KaNeisha Rodgers of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tyrone M. L. Patterson of Antioch, TN. She was further blessed by her great-grandchildren: Darrion (Anaiyah), Promise, Josiah, and Jacob Bell, Faith Robinson, and A’Meelah Widener.

Charlotte is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Johnny Earls; her sisters-in-law, Wilma and Linda Brabson; her cherished goddaughters, Kivia Dixson and Karen Thompson; and a host of other relatives and dear friends, including Sylvia Brown, Doris Johnson, Regina Sanders, Annette Teasley, Maxine Donaldson, Arona Sanford and Sandra Martin.

Charlotte E. Brabson’s life was a testament to faith, family, and resilience. Her love endures, her legacy lives on, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to know her.
