It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chekesha Crippen-Gilmore, beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece, aunt, and cousin. Chekesha graced this world with her presence for fifty-one years.

Chekesha Crippen-Gilmore, 51, of Knoxville, Tennessee, completed her earthly journey on May 6, 2024, taken from her mother, children, siblings, family and extended family that loved her eminently. Chekesha Crippen-Gilmore was born on March 21, 1973 to Carol Crippen and Clark (Spooky) Frazier. She attended Medford High School, where she graduated and later went on to attend Knoxville College. Chekesha was a devoted daughter and mother who loved to spend time with her family. Her name means a bringer of laughter and she truly lived up to that keep us laughing and smiling all the time with her great sense of humor. Chekesha was her mothers one and only child. She is the youngest daughter of her father’s children and was most joyous about the fact that she had siblings.  She loved to hang out with her family and her friends.

She is survived by her mother Carol Crippen, father Clark (Spooky) Frazier, Godparents Cherry and Randy Cooper, Spiritual Godmother Johnnie Daughtry; beloved children KeDaris and Sedrica Gilmore and Elisha Whitehead;  Grandchildren: Alyiah Whitehead, Kahleesi Haniyah Mitchell and Kameyah & KeDaris Gilmore; Aunts Charlene Parton and Debbie (Franklin) Young, Uncles James (Natalie) Crippen, Eddie Crippen, Dwight Frazier; Siblings Larry, C. Spooky, Kamau and Kofi Thompson; Kejaun, Debbie, and Dyris Frazier and Dena Major. Very devoted friends Sherrara Francis and Sam Gilmore III. Big Aunty Jan Guilford. Special family friends Mary and Billy Roebuck, Johnnie, Tameka, Bill Jr. and Verdo. Lots of bonus daughters and sons who she loved with all her heart, several loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends too numerous to name. 

She will be greeted in heaven by her daughter Jefasha Lashai Mitchell; grandparents NellRose & Herman Martin, Aunt Terri Sweatman, Uncles Charles, Calvin, Bart and Brad Crippen; cousin Elisa Crippen
