Cornella J. Isom

We are sad to announce the passing of Cornella J. Isom, age 73, who departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional after a courageous fight. 

Cornella graduated Austin High School class of 1966. She was employed at Lakeshore Mental Health Institute as a Psychiatric Technician where she retired. She was active in her community and loved to cook, sew, and garden.

Cornella was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Those who await her at the gates of Heaven are, her husband Woody Isom; son, Johnny Jackson; parents, James Jackson Sr. and Dorothy May Hughes Jackson; siblings, Lela Rogers, James Jr., Augustus “Pee Wee” and Sidney Jackson; aunt, Daisy Dougherty and great aunt, Jeannie Hicks.

 Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter and caregiver, Dorothy (Sam) Patterson; loving daughters, Karla Isom and Nancy Colquitt; grandchildren Ayrrianna and Nickey Jackson, Faith Colquitt; great grandchildren, Ayrhija Barrett, Adiaree and Santonio Hutchinson; nieces, Michelle Rogers, Cassandra (Rob) Willis and Lela Graves; nephews, Walter Jr. and Bernard Rogers; great nieces, Shameka, Shaonna and Shamiya; great nephew, De’Angelo; a host of other family and several friends to include childhood best friend, Evelyn Banks. 

Friday, March 11, 2022, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2137 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN.  Adhering to COVID-19 protocol, social distancing and face coverings are required. A Celebration of Life service will follow for immediate family and close friends.
