Curtis Booker Obituary

Curtis Antonio Booker was born on October 26, 1973, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to Willie Charles Booker and Mary Jones Booker. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Curtis attended the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church beginning at the age of 5, and occasionally during his adult life under the pastorate of Elder Tommie Lee Mims. Curtis was educated in the Oak Ridge School System. Curtis loved sports and was very talented athlete. As a child, he played T-ball, softball, basketball, and football at the local Boys and Girls Club. Later, he played basketball and football at Jefferson Middle School and received honors as “The Most Athletic” and “Athlete of the Month." Entering Oak Ridge High School, he continued to play both basketball and football. During summer league basketball, he underwent knee surgery and was out for 1990 season. Upon his return in 1991, he played football and was a key player on the 1991 Oak Ridge High School Championship football team. Anyone who had been a part of his life from childhood to adulthood knew he was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan!

Curtis was employed by UT Battelle for 15 months. Prior to his employment at UT Battelle, he was employed as a Department of Energy Contractor for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isiah and Rosie Lee Jones and C.D Booker and Augusta Booker Burnette; uncle, Willie Tyrone Booker; aunts, Lois Kirk, and Vickie Booker.
