Cynthia Wilson Obituary

Cynthia Earlene Wilson (Aunt Cyn) was born May 16, 1948, in Knoxville, TN, and transitioned to her Heavenly home on January 11, 2024, at Fort Sanders Medical Center. The daughter of Robert “Tracy” Wilson and Winnifred Wilson. She was the oldest of four children and grew up in east Knoxville. She attended Eastport Elementary, Vine Jr High, and Sophomore year at Austin High School. After integration, she graduated from East High School in 1966 and attended Knoxville College. She was an excellent student and was involved in many school organizations. She was very popular with her classmates and friends, as her home was a gathering place for many friends.

Cynthia worshipped at Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church in Rockford, TN and later worshipped with Sentertown Missionary Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN online during the pandemic and continued until her death. Cynthia started her career in retail at Sears, later retiring from Target in 2004. At the time of her death, she worked for Professional Case Management for in-home care services.

On January 11, 2024, suddenly for us but not for God’s plan, she was set free and gained her Heavenly Wings. She has moved up a little higher to be with the ones who went before her... FAMILY, HER VICTORY HAS BEEN WON! Cynthia’s warm smile and beautiful spirit brought a special aura to every room she entered. She carried a laugh and funny story from the “good ol’ days” in her back pocket. Those closest to her were able to witness her limitless love; a love that was fearless and straightforward. A love that never missed an opportunity to spread “little life lessons” to carry along your journey. Caregiving came naturally to her, it was almost like a calling. She never ceased to help those who needed her, no matter how she felt. One knew as long as Cynthia was in your corner, there wasn’t any task too big she would turn away from until it was complete. Her devotion to family, how she stood in the gaps, the cheers of encouragement, and her voice to speak up when no one else would were like no other. She leaves a legacy that is to be cherished and a pillar of strength from which all who knew her can withdraw.

She was preceded in death by parents, Robert H., and Winnifred C. Wilson; son Michael Shawn Wilson; grandparents, William and Emma J. Randall, Ernest Sr. and Sadye Wilson.

She is left to cherish her wonderful memory: children, Anthony “Tony” Wilson, KiDaDa “Dee” Wilson; a grandson, D’Shawn Fenderson, Special Daughter; Jasmine Chandler Mattison, goddaughter; Brittaney Johnson, Bonus Son; Donnie Townsend, Sisters; LaWan Davis, Muriel Johnson and Brother, Rodney
