It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved David Leon Batts, 46, of Knoxville, TN who left us on January 8, 2025.

David was born on October 13, 1978, in Knoxville to Larry Lavell Batts and Monnie Marie Flack Nolan.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Bishop John W. Batts and Elder Lillie Frances Batts / George and Betty Flack and sister Tonya Flack.

David was a graduate of Fulton High School, a jack of all trades, and though he was a man of few words, his gentle spirit and caring nature earned him the affection and respect of those lucky enough to call him a friend.

David’s life was marked by a passion for simple joys and meaningful connections. Whether spending time with his family, watching Animal Planet / Natural Geographic, or being a trusted friend, he approached life with a quiet grace and an open heart. His legacy is woven into the memories of those who knew him best, and though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the stories we share and the love we carry in our hearts.

David “Bug” (as his wife affectionally calls him) was the husband to Sarah D. Mack, and a loving father to his sons, David Dale Leon Batts, Jr. (Taylor Gideon) and Daevon Leon Batts; sisters, Alician Batts, Allison Flack, Angel Richardson, Audrey Williamson, Christen Batts and a host of other relatives and friends.

His family was an instrumental part of his world, and the love he shared with them is a legacy that will forever be cherished. He will be remembered for his tender heart, and the strength of his love for those closest to him.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of care and support during this diffi cult time. David may no longer walk among us, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts. We will miss him dearly, and we take comfort in knowing that great memories will forever be with us.
