David Eugene Geter Sr. was the third of eight children born to James T. and Mabel G. Geter on July 22, 1942. David gained his wings on October 28, 2023, after a short illness at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He peacefully went home to be with his heavenly Father at the age of 81 years old.
David was educated in the Knoxville School System, and graduating from Austin High School. David enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 9, 1962. He was given an honorable discharge from the military after serving for several years. David worked at Union Carbide Y-12 and retired from Martin Marietta Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge. He loved to watch reality shows and sports in his spare time. He also was a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed traveling to conferences with the members. David also served as past president of his chapter.
David was united in marriage to Clara Mae Young on June 8, 1991. He was loved by everyone who knew him. David joined Oak Valley Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Hardil Thomas, where he remained a member until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James and Mrs. Mabel Geter, son David Eugene Geter Jr. (Muscles), and brothers Walter Hubert Geter, James Thomas Geter Jr., Herbert Geter, and John Geter.
He leaves to cherish his memory devoted wife, Clara Mae Young Geter; daughter Stephanie (William) Bailey; granddaughter Sydney Bailey; grandson Seth Bailey; great-grandson Cassius Bailey Molina Piche; sisters, Betty Batmon and Evelyn Geter; brother, Charles Geter; sisters-in-law, Chelita Geter, Wanda Jenkins, Cynthia Geter, Willie Jean Robertson, Lisa (Steve) Lattimore; brother- in- law, Homer Young (Patricia); aunts, Louise Mills, Mary Steele, and Dorothy Patterson.
David is also survived by a special nephew, Trevor King, and niece, Asia Anderson, whom he considered to be his own. They loved him with their whole heart. So many more nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends, too numerous to name. His warm smile and generous spirit touched the lives of many family and friends.
