David L Thomas Obituary

David L. Thomas, a respected Korean War veteran and esteemed truck driver passed away on August 15, 2024, in his hometown of Cleveland, TN. Born to the late Howard and Annie B Thomas on October 3, 1942, David's life was marked by dedication, resilience, and a warm spirit that touched the lives of many.

After graduating from College Hill High School in 1960, David demonstrated his commitment to service by enlisting in the United States Army. His remarkable leadership skills and steadfast work ethic led to his rapid promotion to the rank of Sergeant at the tender age of 19. David's military service was a defining period of his life, instilling in him values of discipline and honor that he carried with him always.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, David embarked on a new adventure, forging a long and successful career as an Over The Road (OTR) truck driver with Maytag, formerly known as Magic Chef. His time on the road spanned several decades, during which David became known for his reliability, punctuality, and the pride he took in his work.

David's life was not solely defined by his professional achievements; he was also a pillar of strength for his family. He was a loving brother, an uncle who shared his wisdom, and a friend who offered support without hesitation. His guidance was sought after and his presence, a source of comfort. David's family will remember him as a man who stood by his principles, who cherished his loved ones, and who approached life with a quiet but profound strength.

In his leisure time, David found solace in the simple pleasures of life. Listening to jazz and the blues, he also found a particular interest in history and politics.

David L. Thomas's journey through life was a testament to the enduring power of resilience and the impact one person can have on their family. As we bid him farewell, we celebrate the time we were fortunate enough to share with him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
