Donald Earnest Wimbley was born September 15, 1954, to Alton and Mary Alice Wimbley in Blount County, TN. Donald passed gently into the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2022, at 2915 Linden Ave. He worked at Ross Concrete at the Forks of the river. He was an avid dog lover and took great care of them. If he lost one, he would get another one. Also, he loved to fish.
Preceded in death by siblings, Robert Lee, Mildred, Aileen, Marilee Wimbley, and W. C. Holmes. Nieces: Kenitra Johnson and Darlene Wimbley.
He will always be remembered by his sisters, Elizabeth W. Imes and Lillie Wimbley nieces and nephews, Richard Sr, Phyllis, Harold, Arthur Sr, and Donnell Wimbley, Tony Moon, and Michael and Wanda Holmes, Trina Kennedy, Deidra Hunt all of Knoxville, TN and Robbie Wimbley of Memphis, TN. And a host of great-great nieces and nephews too numerous to name; Devoted family, friends, and neighbors, Natalie (Darrel, Sr) Lindsey, Chris and Kevin Foster, Mary Willis, Johnnie Davenport, Odell Burford, Teresa, Tate (Cookie), Brandie Jackson, Linda Freeman, Danny (Evelyn) Coats, Ronnie Gates, Rodney Hammond, Firson Johnson, Chandler and Baker Families, and the Linden Avenue community.
Friday, June 10, 2022, family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Payne Avenue Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings required. Funeral service to follow with Reverend R.S. Brown, Jr. as eulogist. Interment at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the viewing.
