Dr. Sheadrick Alfred Tillman IV peacefully entered eternal rest on May 10, 2026, after a life defined by faith, leadership, service, and love.


Born on August 8, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to Sheadrick Alfred Tillman Jr. and Mercedes Royal Tillman, Dr. Tillman devoted his life to education, mentorship, ministry, and community advancement. He earned degrees from Southern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University and built a distinguished career in higher education, research administration, strategic planning, and institutional leadership. His professional work included leadership and consulting roles with University of Tennessee, Meharry Medical College, Chicago State University, and other respected institutions.


A devoted man of faith, Dr. Tillman faithfully served as a deacon at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was known for his wisdom, biblical teaching, compassion, and encouragement to others.


He was also deeply committed to brotherhood and service through Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, as well as numerous civic and community organizations.


Above all, Dr. Tillman was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, respected mentor, and loyal friend. He shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Rosalyn Phinisee Tillman, and took immense pride in his daughters, Nichole Tillman Carter and Danielle Jessica Tillman, and his grandson, Xavier Stanton Carter.


He leaves behind a lasting legacy of excellence, integrity, faith, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
