Eleanor Langford Obituary

Eleanor Lawrence Walker Bell Langford, age 73, was born December 15, 1949, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to the union of Mable J. Taylor and John A. Lawrence, Sr. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and dedicated her life to winning souls for Christ. Eleanor attended Fulton High School and later pursued a career at Briggs Plumbing Products, where she retired after many years of hard work and dedication.

There was nothing more important to Eleanor than faith. Her strong passion for ministry was evident in the service she gave in church and her Knoxville community. She studied to show herself approved and became a licensed minister, and many nights found her walking through Lonsdale with her bible preaching the gospel. She sang in several choirs using her anointed voice and was active in nursing homes, jails, and children’s ministries. She had a bright, energetic personality, the gift of gab, and a strong ability to sense when people needed help, regularly taking in children, feeding the hungry, and caring for the sick. Eleanor loved her family and was a true teacher, prayer warrior, and mother to all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mable and John Lawrence, Sr., Henry Woodard Sr.; Grandparents, James and Ellen Taylor; granddaughter, Keyelle L. Wilson; siblings John, Mamie, and Harold Lawrence, Mary (Sissy) Winton, Henry Woodard Jr., and Lucy Armstrong.

She leaves to celebrate her renewed life: Brother, Charles (Ruth) Lawrence of TN; sisters, Janette Cross and Margaret (Rico) Spears of MD; Daughters, Jannice (Walter) Sutton and Judy (Richard) Buntyn of TN, J. Latasha (Ronnie) Bussell and Miracle (Jesse) Bell Goins of GA; Son James (Vickie) Walker of AL; Grandchildren, Ashton, Abrielle, Jacques, Jamari, Jasmine, Jesse, Jesslyn, Jordan, Ja’Zyrian, Keriden (Rachel), Kenneth (Anne), Kyra, Nyah, Prosperity, Raleighia, Richard III and Wesley; Great-Grandchildren, Dior, Emi, Kalen, and Sofie; Sister-in-laws Sarah Lawrence, Jane Lawrence, and Mary Jo Lawrence of Knoxville; Janice Lawrence of MD. Especially devoted nieces, Charlene (Kenny) Johnson of GA and Davon Lawrence of KY; Lifelong friends Jeffrey (Erica) Carter of FL, Linda Williams and Karen Coffin of TN. Bonus daughters Tracy Brown and Cicely Henderson. Special thanks to my neighbors Monica and Kenny Shingles for all their extra love. My eternal gratitude goes to her devoted caregivers Patricia Hall, Eugina Foster, Markitha Holloway, and the Best Senior Care staff; Gentiva Hospice and especially the Wonderful nurses, CNAs, Chaplins, social workers, and volunteers that loved on Eleanor daily; Rev. R.S. Brown and Payne Ave Missionary Baptist Church. If your name wasn’t mentioned, it’s only because there are so many family, friends, and loved ones that my mother loved dearly and who loved her.
