IMES, ELIZABETH W - departed this earthly life Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born December 25, 1941, in Thompson, Georgia, as the daughter of Alton and Mary Alice Wimbley.
Preceded in death by husband of 17 years: Eugene Imes; daughter: Darlene Wimbley; granddaughter: Kenitra “The Baby” Agyepong; parents: Alton and Mary Alice Wimbley; brothers: W. C. Holmes and Robert Lee and Donald Ernest “Wimp” Wimbley; and sisters: Mildred, Aileen, and Marilee Wimbley.
Elizabeth married the love of her life, Eugene Imes, adoringly known as “Papa.” Her passion was exhibited throughout her life to her family and friends to whom she had a great love for, especially her cherished great-granddaughter, Kalena. She attended Knoxville Christian Center Church with her family members and was a retired Custodial Engineer in the Knoxville school system who was very competitive and enjoyed a challenge every now and again on and off the job.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories, sister: Lillie Wimbley; great-granddaughter: Kalena (Agyepong) Brown; devoted nephew and niece; Harold and Phyllis “Sissy” Wimbley; nephews and nieces: Richard Sr, Arthur Sr, and Donnell Wimbley, Tony Moon, and Michael and Wanda Holmes, Trina Kennedy, and Deidra Hunt of Knoxville TN and Robbie Wimbley of Memphis TN; great-niece: Diamond Love; a host of great-great nieces and nephews too numerous to name; former son-in-law, Leslie Brown; special friend: Mary Jo Lawrence; and other family members and friends to include Natalie (Darrel, Sr) Lindsey, Chris and Kevin Foster, Mary Willis, Odell Burford, Teresa, Tate (Cookie), Brandie Jackson, Linda Freeman, Danny Coats, Ronnie Gates, Rodney Hammond, Firson Johnson, Chandler and Baker Families, and the Linden Avenue community.
