Eric Higgins

Eric Higgins, affectionately known as “Pluke,” age 52, the son of the late William Alexander and Annie Delores Higgins, was born on September 11, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois. Eric was granted eternal rest on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Preceded in death by his mother and father, Grandparents: Woodie and Alma Haynes, Dewey Anderson, Sr., Brack and Cleo Higgins; brother, William McCory; nephew, Mark Higgins, Jr.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed building/pimping out cars, DJing, fixing radios, riding, listening to ole’ school music, and watching movies. He was employed as a truck driver for DCI, located in Knoxville, TN.   

“Pluke” was a people person with a contagious personality. He had nicknames for everyone he loved and was a fun-loving person to be around. There was nothing bigger than “family love” to him. He loved kids and kids loved him, sharing knowledge with people was one of his biggest assets. He was also a very inspirational young man. He was a very good break-dancer and stepper. His biggest joy was spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a special devoted life partner, Camillia “Lady” Stewart; four daughters: Shanequa Higgins-Delashment (Matthew) and Shauna Johnson, Chicago, IL; Keke Stewart (LaRon) and Ariyka Higgins, Oak Ridge, TN; six sons: Eric Higgins, Jr. (Jasmine), Angelo Higgins, and Aaron Higgins, Chicago, IL, Tee Higgins and Daylin Higgins, Oak Ridge, TN, and Drelyn Higgins, Indianapolis, IN; A special grandmother: Vera Anderson of Oak Ridge, TN; five sisters: Muriel Sanders, Latoya Thomas-McDowell (Victor), Chicago, IL, Simone Hudson, and Valerie Higgins, Indianapolis, IN, and Londa Higgins, Murfreesboro, TN; seven brothers: Michael Alexander, William Sanders, and Leonard Sanders, Chicago, IL, Connell Higgins, Jose Higgins (Deatrice), Mark Higgins, and Jerome Higgins, all of Michigan City, IN; fifteen grandkids; The Anderson family; best friend from childhood, Rodney Greenwood, Grove, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends, too numerous to name.

Thursday, September 15, 2022, family and friends may view from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m at Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Rd, Oak Ridge, TN. A Celebration of Life will follow with Pastor Derrick Hammond, eulogist. Mask are required. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, 1501 Bethel Valley Rd, Oak Ridge, TN.
