Eunice Hobbs Obituary

Sis. Eunice Mosby Hobbs was born July 4, 1948, to the union of the late Horton and LaVerne Mosby in Oakland, Tennessee. She was granted eternal rest on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

She was educated in the Oakland School System and is a graduate of Fayette-Ware High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled at Tennessee State University. In May 1971, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.

Sis. Hobbs relocated to Oak Ridge, and soon after her arrival, she united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Elder Dennis J. Ward. As a member of Mt. Zion, she was a constant in Sunday School, Sunday morning and evening worship services, Prayer Meeting and Bible Study, and she would always provide her God-given talents whenever asked. She served faithfully as an usher, as a member of the Dorcas Ministry, and presented our church announcements. Many of the children of Mt. Zion and the Oak Ridge area were blessed at birth with a blanket crocheted by Sis. Hobbs.

She was an employee of Consolidated Nuclear Security, L.L.C. in the Operations Support Division at the Y-12 Plant. She often donated her crocheting items to charitable organizations supported by the facility.

In her spare time, Sis. Hobbs enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, walking, and spending time with her family. She also volunteered at Briarcliff Nursing Home.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vinson Mosby Sr., daughter, Sybil Nicole Hobbs, grandson, Xavier Ellis, and sisters-in-law, Edna Mosby and Mary Mosby.

Sis. Hobbs leaves to cherish her memories, brother, John Mosby; sons, Kevin Mosby and Marcus Hobbs, and his fiancé Tramaine Reed; grandchildren, Jasign, Izreal, Josiah, and Micah; nieces, Cajuana Mosby and Yolanda Mosby; nephew, Vinson Mosby Jr.; devoted friends, Johnny and Dorothy Fairs; special friends, Mary Booker, Edwena Crowe, Clarence and Brenda Hinton, Brenda Kirk, Evelyn Mims, and Julia Rupert; Goddaughter, Ta’Miyah Porter; Godsons, Tyrece Irons, Anthony White Jr. and Aaron White; and other relatives and friends.

Friday, August 5, 2022, family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 195 Wilberforce Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN. A funeral service will follow with Elder Henry Watson as the eulogist. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Social distancing and face masks are required. Flowers may be delivered to the church during this time. Professional arrangements entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Brian L.
