Felix graduated Austin East High School in the class of 1978. While at Austin East he gained a love for auto mechanics and auto body. He was known to many in the East Knoxville community as a trustworthy mechanic. He enjoyed painting and restoring automobiles for many years. He spent his free weekends watching or attending Nascar and drag races.

He was a great "Girl Dad" and took pride in his role as a grandparent. The kids affectionately called him Grandaddy, Poppa, and Granddaddy Mister. He enjoyed taking them to the park and out for ice cream. He loved to take them to races, teach them car care basics and even to teach them to drive at an early age.
