Ethel Fern Porter, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
Fern was a graduate of Austin High School class of 1953. She retired from the University of Tennessee.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who loved spending time with family and friends. Fern loved unconditionally especially her devoted grandchildren whom she adored. She was a caring and nurturing person. Anyone who knew her instantly became attached to her infectious personality. She was always a joy to be around and definitely “the life of the party.” Fern loved to make people laugh, enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden, decorating her home, watching her daily TV shows, and going on evening rides with her son Ackron. She was a sweet spirit who will be forever missed by many.
Preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Rogers and Katherine Henry Cates; loving daughter, Ethel Porter; devoted sister, Flora Gaines; and cousins Katherine Dillard and Kenneth Wright.
Left to cherish her memory: devoted and loving children, Ackron Porter and Sharon Porter; loving grandchildren, Nathan Adebayo, Shannon, Devin, Amber, Brittney Porter, and Chris Ramsey; great grandchildren, Jaden, Baby Nate, Trenton, Travi’yonna, Rashad, Lauren, and Jaxon; son in law, Charles Jamison; loving niece, Denise Jones; devoted cousins, Marvin (Katherine) Wright and James Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to include the Wright, Rogers, Snapp and Dillard families.
