Fred Erkins

March 6, 1940 ~ September 26, 2022 (age 82) 82 Years Old


The Lord called our brother Fred “Bubba” Erkins home to be with Him on September 26, 2022. Fred was born March 6, 1940, to Van Erkins and Jewel Cowser by midwife Kat Brooks and Katherine Sanders in Centre, Alabama where he became a well- known person of service to his community. Working continuously for the honor of Veterans and Memorial Day as a flagman and a coach for the Cave Springs Braves. Fred retired as an employee of the Georgia Craft Paper Mill; he loved working with his hands in the garden. Fred married in 1962 to Willie Ruth Wright and had three children. His greatest passion was growing things in the garden and watching sports with friends. Always had a story of wisdom to share with whomever would listen. Fred Erkins touched many lives with his work ethic and life experience and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son: Frederick Perranoski Erkins, daughter-in-law: Lisa Harvey-Erkins, daughter: Melisa Griffin, son-in-law: Brad Griffin, grandchildren: Olivia Erkins, Robert Yates, Tonya Hardy, Brandon Griffin and April Griffin, sister: Sue Dobbins, brother in-law: Noah Dobbins, brother: Floyd Erkins, sister in-law:
Barbra Erkins, uncle: Jessie Erkins and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He precedes his father Vann Erkins, mother: Jewel Erkins, daughter: Tyler,
sisters: Nola C, and Dorothy Joe, brothers: ER and Darvin.

Your memory of all the years spent with those family and friends you loved and loved you will live on in our lives and your memory will be passed on for generations to come. Rest well dear soldier and God’s peace that passes all understanding
