Gail Lyons Montgomery, age 65, of Knoxville, Tennessee, gained her heavenly wings and transitioned home Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was born February 23, 1957, to Palmer Lyons and Joy Beavers Lyons. She was a graduate of Austin-East High School. She held many talents and was employed as an Administrative Assistant at RHP Certified Public Accountants. She recently retired from her Concessions and Bar Manager duties at Knoxville Civic Coliseum. She enjoyed watching football and basketball games.
She was an excellent cook, most notably known for her “G-Mommy” fried hot chicken wings. She was the connector of our family and will be dearly missed.
Her parents, Palmer Lyons and Joy Beavers Lyons, preceded Gail in death—her living in- laws William “Bill” Montgomery, Sr., and Mary Katherine Montgomery.
Gail is survived by her husband William “Bill” Montgomery, Jr. and her only daughter Ebony (Wayne) Byrd; grandchildren, Nasir Byrd, Nigel Byrd; In-Laws, Sharmaine Byrd, Raenita Coleman, Ted Byrd, Don Williamson, Jerry Williamson, Montell Williamson and preceded in death Betty and William Byrd; sisters, Joyce Dixson, Ivy (Clifford) Goethie; brothers, Van Lyons, Donald Lyons, Kenny Lyons, Raymond (Emma) Callahan; nieces, Brittany Wrushen, Kenlesia Lyons, Di’arie Reynolds; beloved nephews, Michael (Tina) Lyons and family, Sean Michael, Brielle, Brayden Lyons, David (Angel) Dixson, and family Arianna, Roman Dixson; beloved niece, Dr. Cynthia (James) Shelton and family, Christopher Downs, and niece Victoria Martin.
