Geneva Ware Obituary

Geneva Kemp Ware, born April 20,1937 in Knoxville, Tennessee, was called to eternal rest on Thursday March 10, 2022.

She was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Maggie Kemp who she adored; beloved son Duane Kemp; sisters, Dorothy Kemp Bryant, Elizabeth Kemp Jackson, Emma Hunter, Jacquelyn Barton, and Nancy Cannon, brothers, Joseph Kemp, Edward Kemp Jr, Roy Kemp, Arthur William Kemp, and Melvin Kemp, nephew ;Timothy Cannon, great nephew; Timothy Cannon Jr., and a loving grandson Terrel Kemp.

Geneva graduated from Austin High School class of 1955. She retired from TVA after 17 years of service. She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was a woman of dignity and loved to make others happy. She was truly the matriarch of our family.

With pleasant memories to cherish and treasure, she leaves two loving sons, Gregory (India) Kemp, and Hiram (Sarina) Ware; Sister Lois Keith, several devoted nieces and nephews to include Geraldine Taylor “Dink”, six grandchildren, Shawn Allen, Aneka Kemp, Dawn Kemp, Dawana & Chasity Rodgers, and, Tyler (Kacie) Kemp, seventeen great grandchildren, Mesha Smith,Ishona Hardin, Chyna Echols, Darius & Naomi Allen, Geneva Kay, Tashiya, Taniya, Taelyn, & Terrel Kemp Jr., Saquira Lundy, Johneisha, Shaonna, Shatara, Cierra, Maedaysia, and Kyasia Rodgers, five great great grandchildren Kason Isom, Kasi’, I’yomi, & Niko Boatwright, several cousins, a devoted family friend, Adele Brown, and many other relatives and a special thanks to Ms. Ernestine Bates.

Thursday, March 17, 2022, a public walkthrough begins at 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1807 Dandridge Ave, Knoxville, TN. A graveside service to follow Crestview Cemetery,2949 Keith Ave, Knoxville, TN to follow.. Reverend Leroy Franklin officiating. Adhering to COVID-19 protocol, social distancing and face coverings are required. A white dove release will conclude the service.
Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the walkthrough.
