Sister Ginger Raquel Perry Cope transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at UT Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. Ginger was born November 18, 1968, to Walter Travis Dunnigan and Sandra Jean Perry. Raised in a blended family, she was one of five children. Her education began in the Chattanooga School System, a graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, TN. Ginger attended Southwest Tennessee Community College, Memphis, TN., Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN and graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
Ginger was a loyal and faithful member of Lifeline Ministries, Church of God in Christ, Oak Ridge, TN., serving as the Church Administrator since 2019. She would faithfully attend Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship Services, Tennessee Eastern First Jurisdiction Monday Night Prayer Call, Thursday Night Bible Study, and Church of God in Christ Saturday Night Sunday School. Ginger loved everyone and was loved by all who knew her. She served very closely with Mother Gwinn and followed up with telephone calls to members and visitors. Ginger knew Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a godly woman of great faith and strength.
Her goal was to return to school and obtain her master’s degree in Early Childhood Development. Yet after a prolonged illness and kidney failure, her heart’s desire was to get a kidney transplant God granted her desire answering her prayers with a complete healing in a brand- new body.
Preceded in death by her parents; stepsister, Cynthia Y. Dunnigan; grandmother, Ekie Lee Perry and aunt, Vivian Perry.
Left to cherish her memory: daughter, Francina Cope, Chattanooga, TN; brother, Gerald Perry, Minister Lamar Perry (Arnelle), Nashville, TN; God son, Aaron Franklin, New Orleans, LA; step-sisters, Tracy Brown and Sheila Booker (Herbert), Oak Ridge, TN; stepbrother, Deaddrick Brown (Vanessa), Fredericksburg, VA; God mothers, India Pearl Chambers and Pastor Sarah T. Perry, Chattanooga, TN; God sisters, Antoinette Chambers Green and Jackie Chambers; God brother, Cornelius E. Perry (Audrey); special friends, Teresa Renee Ward, Atlanta, GA., Leigh Chapman, Chattanooga, TN., Shepherd Mother Vivian A. Gwinn, her Pastor, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family extends special thanks and appreciation to Sheila Booker, Gingers’ Caregiver for many years, Dr. Ann Carter, MD, Fresenius Kidney Care, Oak Ridge,TN., Dr. Oscar H. Grandas, Vascular and Transplant Surgeon, and the staff at UT Hospital.
Saturday, February 19, 2022, A Celebration of Life service begins at 11:00 a.m. at Mighty Warriors Church, 2219 Jenkins Road, Chattanooga, TN. Pastor Sarah T. Perry will officiate.
