Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gladys Margaret-Joy Williams, departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Gladys, a native of Cleveland, TN, was born on June 4, 1937, to the late Edvance Ramsey and Martha Tibbs Ramsey, both of Cleveland, TN.
Gladys, as she was affectionately called, received her formal education at College Hill High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. She furthered her education at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Gladys received her nursing degree and pursued
a career in Nursing at Bradley Memorial Hospital and at Bradley County Nursing Home. She followed her dream, which led her to become the owner and operator of “Bo Peep Day Care” in Cleveland; and later to become the owner of “Romper Room Day Care” in Knoxville, TN. She had over 40 years of professional experience in the daycare industry.
Gladys was a member at Redemption Church in Knoxville, Tennessee but frequently attended St James Ministries when visiting her daughter in Cleveland, Tennessee. Gladys was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. A kindhearted woman, full of laughter and readily made friends with those in her acquaintance. She was a devoted teacher to the children in her care, providing love, structure, and teachings to their daily lives.


She was preceded in death by her late husband, Rev Clifford H. Williams Sr., sisters: Willie Virginia Nance, Mary Elizabeth King, brothers: Joseph Ramsey, Charles G Ramsey, Julius Ramsey, Calvin Ramsey, and Morgan Ramsey. Also, nephew Ernest Lee Nance.


She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn in passing daughter, Brenda L Williams Porter (Jonathan C Porter) Cleveland, Tennessee, Son Clifford H Williams Jr. (Knoxville, Tennessee). Grandchildren: Sashual Yulonda-Joy Willams-Porter-Thomas (Gabriel N. Thomas), Breandra Chalonda Leigh Porter, Jonathan Lashaun Aquero Porter, Alijah Shalonda-Qwen-Porter (Fiancé Zavier A, Blair), Jonathan Faizon Xavier Porter. Great Grandchildren: Kortney Alena, JoRell Q, and Hezekiah J Thomas. As well as Zayli O and Azylah O Porter-Blair. Special friend Leroy Foster (Knoxville, Tennessee), Special niece Azella Smith (Len Smith) Atlanta, Georgia, Great nephew Patrick O, Langham (Jennifer Langham) California, Sister in Law Ms. Clara B Ramsey (Athens, TN), and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nephews, other family members, special guests, and friends.
 

The body may be viewed from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair St. SE, Cleveland, TN 37311. www.pattonfuneralhome1962.com.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m with  service to follow at ST JAMES CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 151 SHORT STREET NE
CLEVELAND, TN 37311.  Rev. Rodney Dunn, Officiating.
