Glenda Harper

Glenda A. Harper, a former resident of Cleveland,Ohio, departed this life on earth on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Westmorleand Rehabilitation Facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. Prior to her stay at the facility, she was a resident of Golden Age Retirement Village in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Glenda was born in Hart County, Georgia on August 24,1941, one of ten children, to the late Lessie and Boozer Harper. A graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1960, she became a Licensed Cosmetologist owning salons in both Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, California. Her salon, Angelos' Wig Salon was here sanctuary where she created the most beautiful hairstyles and custom wigs before retiring and relocating to Knoxville. Glenda was very active in the Knoxville community serving on the Board of Directors of the Knoxville Urban Community Vision in 1991. She was a political advocate for her community!

Glenda was a member of Mount Moriah Fire Baptist Holiness Church in Knoxville, TN.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Dorsen and Irvin Harper; sisters, Lois Robinson, Lettie Macintosh and Ida Harper.
Forever loved and missed by her son, Joseph Harper; grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Willa) Harper, James (Patricia) Harper; sister, Helen Brabson (Elbert); half-sisters, Bettty Jean Shields and Dorothy Carter; god daughter, Dr. Kahn Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends to include special supportive friends, Charlenia Wilson, Ann Hollis, Emma Johnson and Ann Dingus.

Tuesday, January 12, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Greater Warner Tabernacle A.M.E Zion Church, 3800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Followed by Words of Comfort by Bishop Farris Long.  During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order No. 17 (COVID-19). Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the walkthrough.
