Helen Mildred Cason

Helen Mildred Cason “Nanny” (Ms. Mil) - age 78, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 5th, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her daughters and her twins.
She was a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1961.
She was a dedicated and faithful member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceded in death are her parents, Oscar & Pauline Cason; great-grandson Torek Tyshawn Allen, siblings; Elmer Lewis, Eddie, Jackie Sr., William, Hubert, and Paul Cason, Wilma Curd, Peggy Bush, and Jewel Cason. 

She was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving and caring daughters, Lytania “DeDe” Cason, Arhonda “Niecy” Cason; god daughter, Mary “Libby” (Danny) Phillips Sr.; grandchildren that she loved so dearly, LaKeisha (Brandon), De’Tesha Knight, JerMarkcus Cason, Mark Blanton Jr., X’Zadrius Bowden, Jaylan “Boo” Rorex, Cherise Phillips, Danny Phillips Jr., JerMetric Wimbley & Nicholas Wimbley; beloved great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jayda, JaOnni, JaBrea, JaVon, Jaidin, Aaliyah, Trevel, Elijah, Mark III, Salem, Zavious, JiZale, and several others that called her nanny; sister, Wilhelmina (Greg) Yarbrough; sister in laws,Wilma Cason, Mary K. Cason and Sharon Cason.
Many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, too numerous to name. Including her Pastor, church family, and wonderful caregiver Kelsy Gonzales and family.

Friday, May 13, 2022, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Homegoing Celebration to follow at New Friendship Baptist Church, 1933 Texas Ave, Knoxville, TN. Reverend Dr. Joseph B. Smith as eulogist. Social distancing and face coverings required.  Interment at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove release will conclude the service.
