Herman Lee Leonard was born November 1, 1940, to the late Joseph and Virginia Leonard. In 1958, Herman graduated from Austin High school. Herman had a heart for service and later became a bellman for several years at local hotels. He later transitioned from bellman to housekeeping and his duties ended when he retired at age of 65 from a local barber shop. In 2010, Herman suffered a major stroke which caused his journey to become life-changing. Herman spent his remaining days at the NHC-North Health Care facility. While at NHC, Herman would spread his contagious personality to the staff, and it will always hold a lasting impression. His countless visits with loved ones and prayer sessions will be deeply missed.
Herman departed this life on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 81. He was preceded in death by parents; Joseph and Virginia Leonard, brothers; Herbert and Joe Leonard, sister; Sarah-Leonard Hensley.He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted daughter;Pamela Dean, son; Reginald Woodruff Sr. grandchildren; Jande Hill, Gennika Clemons, Reginald Woodruff Jr., and Reginald L. Woodruff Sr. Great-Grandchildren; Jariah Myers, China Ewing, Goddess Clemons, Reginald L. Woodruff Jr., LaTray Woodruff, and Trayvon Woodruff; sister; Rose Fletcher; sister-in-law Roselyn Leonard; nephews;Greg (Shelia) Hensley, Godfrey Fletcher Jr., nieces; Patricia (Sonny) Hughes, Louvenia Young, Andrea Leonard, Kendra (Michael) Shadden, Teresa (Terrance) Schofield, and Alicia (DeWayne) Leonard-Cotner and a host of relatives and loved ones too great to name. A special thank you to his loving nephew Greg Hensley and the NHC-North Staff for providing excellent love and care for Herman Lee Leonard.
