Herman Steele, Jr Obituary

Herman F. Steele, Jr., 72, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on April 1, 2024, at Life Care Center after a brief illness.

Herman, fondly known as "Boodie," was born to Herman F. Steele, Sr. and Hattie (Prater) Steele on June 9, 1951, in Knoxville, TN.

He was a faithful member of Clinton Chapel and served as an usher and in the choir. He knew the Bible well and enjoyed lively discussions with his siblings at Sunday dinner. Boodie was a proud graduate of West High School and furthered his education with college studies. Boodie proudly retired from AT&T in 2014 after 38 years with the company, receiving multiple accolades and forming lasting friendships. Boodie enjoyed maintaining his lawn, watching the Vols play, and talking about his two sons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda (Brown) Steele, who was the love of his life, his mother, Hattie Mae Steele, his father, Herman Steele, Sr., and his sister, Andrena (Steele) Coleman.

His legacy lives on through his sons, Kevin Steele and Chris (Meghan) Steele, his brothers Tommy (Annetha) Steele, Rev. Stephen (Elaine) Steele, Hubert "Earl" (Margaret) Steele, and his sisters Iva "Beanie" (Steele) Green (Ronald) and Glenda (Steele) Watson (Howard). Boodie was also a proud grandfather to Kameron Steele, Conner Steele, Aiden Posey, and Rhys Posey, a cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews, and was loved by many extended family members.

Boodie will be truly missed. His story is not one of goodbye but a beautiful reminder to cherish every moment and to live with love.
