Janet Cloud, affectionately known as Jane, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at her home in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on January 6, 1941, in Knoxville, she remained deeply rooted in her hometown throughout her life.
Janet was the cherished daughter of Henry Cloud Sr. and Mamie Cloud, both of whom preceded her in death. She honored their legacy with a life dedicated to education, family, and faith.
A passionate educator, Janet earned her bachelor’s degree from Knoxville College and continued her studies at The University of Tennessee, where she received her master’s degree and pursued additional academic work. Her career was marked by a profound commitment to nurturing both intellect and character in her students and athletes.
Janet’s devotion to her family was unwavering. She raised her daughter Michelle Cloud with love and strength, supported her grandchildren Justin Huff (Donnesha Wellington) and Brianne Huff-Hughes (Daniel Hughes), and found joy in her great-grandchildren Cameron Huff, Cortland Huff, Lauryn Kimber, Justin Huff Jr , and Jaliyah Huff. Her presence was a source of wisdom and warmth for each generation.
An avid sports fan, Janet cheered passionately on the sidelines for her grandchildren on game day, and Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Volunteers, and Colorado Buffaloes from the comfortof her home. She also enjoyed reading imaginative novels, solving puzzles, gardening, and cooking meals that brought loved ones together.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a member of Shiloh United Presbyterian Church, she found purpose in service and strength in community.
