Janice Maria Spratling, the daughter of the late John Paige and Sarah Mae Spratling Barnett was born on 11/21/1958 in Oak Ridge, TN. She was granted eternal rest on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
Growing up in the Scarboro community, she attended Scarboro Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Jefferson Junior High School and is a 1976 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. In 1997, Janice became a licensed cosmetologist.
Janice accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Elder Ward. During this time, she used her talents as a member of the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir, the Baptist Youth Fellowship, and she was in attendance during Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship Service, Prayer Meeting, and Bible Study.
She loved reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lila Ripley; sisters, Juanita Hawkins and Mary Lee Barnett; brother, Terry Paige; uncles, Overton, Robert Charles, and Lewis Spratling; cousins, Johnny Williams, Shirley Guinn, Larry Spratling, and Jennifer Spratling, and brother-in-law, Lincoln Ross.
She leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Kenneth and Omar Spratling; her brother Kenneth Spratling, sister Gwendolyn Ross; nieces, Gwenicka (Nino) Holmes, and Satarah Schofield; grandchildren, Antione Spratling, Omarion Spratling, Asher Chance, Leah Chance, Zoey Hawkins, Marie, Gene and Kennis Brown and Michael Moss.
Cousins, Anthony (Gloria) Spratling, Deborah Long, Johnny (Lori) Spratling, Christopher Spratling; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Lucile Koonce, Danya (David) Powers and Nichole Proveaux.
