Despite being preceded in death by his loving parents, Earl Stokes and Laura Mae (Smith) Stokes, as well as his siblings Hilliard Stokes, Sanford Stokes, Patricia McDaniel, Alfreda Jones, and Barbara Stokes, he navigated his path with grace and fortitude. Jeff's heart was full of love and dedication as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His beloved wife of 27 years, Dena Stokes ;sons, Jeffery and Derrick (Michelle); daughter, Marva (Brandon), along with his cherished siblings; Margaret "Chris" (Judson) Kyle, Raymond Phipps, Sheila Phipps, Earl Stokes Jr., William Stokes, Michelle Stokes, Delinda Iwuozo, and Paula Eisner, not to forget his sisters-in-law, Diane Stokes, Katherine (Sensabaugh) Benson, and brothers-in-law, Robert Sensabaugh, Thomas McDaniel Sr ; special cousin/sister, Laretha Smith continue to honor his memory. His influence extends to his nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
Jeff's educational journey culminated in his graduation from Austin East High School in 1974, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. His commitment to service was evident when he joined the Navy in 1976, serving his country with honor until 1982. Jeff's professional life was marked by his craftsmanship as a Bricklayer, and he later retired from Key Safety System in 2009, leaving behind a trail of hard work and dedication.
A devout Christian, Jeff was an integral part of the Open-door Baptist Church community. He served as a Trustee, lifted spirits with his voice in the choir, and embodied the love and teachings of his faith. His interests were a reflection of his vibrant spirit; Jeff's passion for college football, tennis, and golf was only surpassed by the joy he found in the company of his friends and family.
Jeff was the epitome of love, humor, and intelligence. His laughter was contagious, his wit was sharp, and his knowledge was profound. His ability to light up a room and inspire those around him was unparalleled. As a motivational force, Jeff encouraged others to pursue their dreams with courage and to face life's challenges with a smile.
