Jermonie P. Mattress, “Money,” born on November 25, 2014, to Sade’ C. Mattress. On July 4, 2021, Jermonie was called home to be with the Lord at University of Tennessee Hospital. Jermonie attended Fair Garden Elementary School and Ritta Elementary School where he will be greatly missed. Jermonie loved to play T Ball, video games, and was always on his tablet doing his schoolwork.

Jermonie attended church with his Aunt T and Papa at Lane’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church Niota, TN. At church, he participated in several plays and was always singing. He loved to run and be outdoors. He collected Hot Wheel cars and gumballs; never leaving a store without one or the other. Jermonie was a loving child who enjoyed making people laugh and just having fun.

Preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert “Bobby” Mattress; uncle Jermaine M. Hurst and aunt, Sheila Mattress.

Left to cherish his memory his mother, Sade’ C. Mattress; step-father, Daniel Daugherty; sisters and brothers, Ju’Dayia McDowell, Omega Daugherty of Knoxville TN, Dantrell Daugherty of Chicago Ill, Jayla Peck, Ramel Peck Jr. of Georgia; grandmother, Phyllis Davis, Knoxville, TN; step-grandmother, DerRico Angel Noble of Chicago, Ill; aunties, Sylvena and Francesca Mattress, both of Knoxville, TN; special aunt and uncle, Priscilla “T” and Rev. Hugh “Papa” Dixson; god mother, Santana Tarallo, all of Knoxville TN; bonus aunties, Ganesa (Eric) Davis, Ashly Guinn, Sara Teshome; bonus grandmother, Quanitha Griffin, all of Knoxville, TN; bonus grandfather, Theodore “Theo” Hamilton of Chattanooga, TN and a host of other family and friends.

Thursday, July 15, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Overcoming Believers Church, 201 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. A service will follow for immediate family and close friends with Pastor Daryl Arnold as the officiant and Reverend Hugh Dixson as the eulogist. Interment at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN, where a white dove and balloon release will conclude the service.
