Jerome William Sawyer

JEROME W. SAWYER, also known as “Sawblade” and “Rome Rome,” to most, age 48, passed away August 18, 2021, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born May 6, 1973, in North Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of Clarence and Teresa (Jackson) Sawyer.

Jerome graduated from Chattanooga City High School, Class of 1992. Following graduation, Jerome worked in the Construction industry.  He was proud to have worked many years helping to build communities. In 2005, he married Stephanie Durham and they settled in Knoxville, TN. Jerome was a true family man!  He enjoyed cooking, video games, family events, going out, training the kids, hitting the streets, and as we all know a part time ladies’ man.

Jerome was a very persistent person that gave his all to whomever needed him and to whatever situation.  His dedication to health and wellness and being present in his children’s lives were most important to him. 

Survived by his wife, Stephanie Sawyer along with his children, Nathaniel Love, Gabriella Sawyer, Corey Proffitt, Isaac Sawyer, Gabriel Sawyer, and Israel Sawyer, six grandchildren; parents; brother Ricky (Shanda) Sawyer and several nephews and nieces.

Thursday, August 26, 2021, a public walkthrough is schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required.  A Service of Remembrance will follow with Pastor Daryl W.
