Jerome Carroll Thomas entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness and dedication to his family, friends and community.
Jerome was a proud graduate of Austin High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he was employed for many years as a baker at Miller’s Department Store and later at the University of Tennessee Bakery, where he continued to share his strong work ethic, warm spirit and culinary skills.
He attended Sentertown Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and participated in other ministries. Later years he fellowshipped at Tabernacle Baptist Church. He also sang in the former Staples Community Choir.
He had a beautiful tenor/falsetto voice and he loved to sing. He enjoyed listening to music by some of his favorite groups like The Stylistics, Blue Magic and The Temptations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Thomas, Sr. and Juanita Lelia Armstrong Thomas; sons, Jason and Reginald Thomas; and former wife, Brenda Warren Thomas.
Jerome is survived by his loving daughter, Brandi Thomas; siblings, Theresa Taylor, Leona Hamilton (Chattanooga, TN), Lelia Rivers, and Raymond (Lea) Thomas, Jr. (Naga City, Philippines); Aunt, Sonja Armstrong; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including Selena Parks (GA), Rasha Miller, William “Monty” Hamilton (Tulsa, OK), Robert Taylor, Vl, Raymond Thomas III (CA), Charles “CJ” Lynch (WI), Derek “DJ” Kellogg, Jr., Olivia Miller, and Leyianna and Kaia Taylor. Other nieces and nephews: Kim Ellis, Kendall Holland, Dana Judson, Paula Reese, Pam Barksdale, Charmaine Munn, Carmaine Segars, Warren Brannon, Michael Warren, Henry Wells, Lonnie Warren.
Jerome will be lovingly remembered by the Thomas, Armstrong, Anderson, Brandenburg, Brown, Calhoun, Gibson, Moore, Martin, Moulden, Richmond, Willis, Page, Reid, Taylor, Williams and Young families, along with a host of dear friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Vanderbilt Hospital Burn Center and Life Care Center of Jefferson City for their dedicated care and compassion during the later part of Jerome’s life.
Special thanks are also extended to Vanderbilt Brabson, Rev. Fredrick Brabson, Gloria Whitehead, Gladys Cowan, Mary Thomas, and many friends and members of Sentertown Baptist Church, Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church for their prayers, love and support.
