Jimmie Lee Crawley, Jr., affectionately known as Jimmie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, at the age of 78. Born on April 25, 1946, in Opelika, Alabama, Jimmie was a man whose presence was characterized by warmth and a genuine friendliness that drew people to him. Jimmie lived in Los Angeles, CA. for over 30 years before moving back to Oak Ridge, TN, 8 years ago to be closer to family.
Jimmie was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor before embarking on a civilian career that saw him become a respected Warehouse Supervisor at Good Samaritan Hospital. His dedication to his work was only matched by his commitment to the people around him, both at work and within his community.
Those who knew Jimmie will remember him as a loving and friendly soul, always ready with a thoughtful word or a helping hand. His ability to make each person he met feel valued and important was truly remarkable and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jimmie's life was one of connection and affection, centered around his family and friends. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise Gunn and Jimmie Lee Crawley, Sr., as well as his brother, Simon Bernard Gunn, his legacy continues through his surviving brother, Will Anthony Gunn and niece, Sharissa Gunn.
He shared a very special bond with his devoted cousin, Loretta ( David) Gunn Mitchell, they were more like siblings than cousins. Jimmie shared a unique bond of brotherhood with his brothers. The bond was a source of great strength and comfort to him, and it will endure as a testament to the love they shared.
